Save The Malayan Tiger (Selamatkan Harimau Malaya) is a conservation initiative in Malaysia led by the Regent of the State of Pahang, HRH Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, dedicated to safeguarding the Malayan Tigers and the environments in which they live.
The majestic Malayan Tiger, the symbol of the strength and bravery of our people, has long roamed free across the Malay Peninsula.
Today however, this magnificent animal is Critically Endangered. We need decisive and determined action, to save the Malayan Tiger.
Therefore, I, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, pledge that I will make it my solemn duty to ensure that I will do my best to help bring back the Malayan Tiger from the brink of extinction.
It is my wish that the Government of Pahang commits to fully implementing urgent actions to conserve the Malayan Tiger; in particular;
In order to achieve the three urgent actions above:
Born on the 17th of September, 1995, at the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital in Kuantan, Pahang Darul Makmur, HRH Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah was instated as The Crown Prince of Pahang on the 22nd of January, 2019, marking a new chapter in the state’s history.
His academic journey commenced at Saint Thomas Secondary School in Kuantan, Malaysia, from 2002 to 2005. He then continued his studies in the United Kingdom, attending Caldicott Preparatory School from 2006 to 2009, followed by his enrolment at the prestigious Sherborne School until 2014.
His pursuit of knowledge led him to the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations from 2015 to 2018.
Prince Hassanal Shah also completed rigorous military training at the esteemed Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in 2019. He currently holds the rank of Captain in the Royal Malay Regiment and leads Chief Platoon 1 of Alpha Company within the 12th Battalion 4th Brigade Mechanised.
His administrative skills extend to several state roles, including his leadership of the Pahang Royal Council and the Council of Religion and Malay Custom of Pahang. Furthermore, he chairs the Oversight Committee for Pahang Net Zero 2030 initiative and the Cameron Highland Transformation Taskforce Committee, demonstrating his commitment to environmental stewardship.
A fervent advocate for environmental conservation, Prince Hassanal Shah has devoted himself to the protection of the Malayan Tiger and the advancement of environmental-social-governance (ESG) efforts. His guidance has been essential in establishing a balance between development and conservation, culminating in the launch of the Al-Sultan Abdullah Royal Tiger Reserve, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, on International Tiger Day 2023, during the inaugural Pahang Tiger Summit in Kuantan, Malaysia.
His Royal Highness Prince Hassanal Shah’s multifaceted roles and unwavering commitment to the prosperity of Pahang, as well as his significant contributions to conservation and social welfare, have earned him profound respect not only within Malaysia but also on the international stage. His dynamic and compassionate leadership continues to serve as a beacon for modern royalty, guiding his nation towards a sustainable and prosperous future.
